Risen Youth

The purpose of the Risen Youth Group Ministry is to experience God through studying his word, relationships, evangelizing and serving. The Risen Youth Group meets once a week, 9-10 on Sunday mornings at Discovery Church (Davis High School IPA theatre) to learn about the nature of God by studying his word and fellowshipping. Other events include service days, outreach events, and summer camps. Frisbee is also a common pastime.

Get involved

The following are common activities that take place during Risen Youth Group gatherings:

• Evangelism
  "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." (Acts 1:8)
  
  Through the Risen Youth Group, our hope is to impact as many jr. and sr. high students as possible. Monthly outreach events provide opportunities for students to invite their peers to fun friendly events. Past events have been bowling at the MU, video game tournaments, and movie nights.
  
  
• Fellowship/Relationships
  "Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household. " (Ephesians 2:19)
  
  Students can often feel alone or alienated in their faith among their peers. The Risen Youth Group fosters relationships with other believers at school and provide guidance in establishing Godly relationships. It is within this context of friendship that faith can most effectively be shared.
  
  
• Discipleship: Applying God’s Word to Our Lives.
  "Let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity."(Hebrews 6:1)
  
  Our goal for the Risen Youth Group is to mature students in Christ through studying God’s word and discussing how it applies to our lives.
  
  
• Serving
  "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these." (Mark 12:30-31)
  
  Risen’s youth group’s goal is to love God with all our heart, by loving our neighbor. Monthly service events provide opportunities for teens to radically love their neighbors. Past service events have included doing yard work for the elderly of Rancho Yolo (an elderly mobile home community), fasting and raising money for world hunger, and collecting canned goods for the less fortunate.
