The Purpose of Christ in Action
The purpose of CIA (Christ In Action) is to spread the love of Christ with the community of Davis California. In the gospel of Mark, Jesus tells a teacher of the law what the greatest commandment is.
'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' Mark 12: 29-31
The mission of Christ In Action is to mobilize the body of Christ to fulfill the Greatest Commandment on a practical level; by giving service opportunities for people to love their neighbor. While this ministry targets the community of Davis, and surrounding cities. The highest area of need is usually found in senior communities where the elderly are more receptive to being helped.
Get Involved
There are many exciting opportunities to serve in this ministry.
- Door Knocking
CIA was started by going door to door, seeing if there were any needs that could be met by the body of Christ. Door knocking provides opportunities to gain more work projects as well as evangelize the Gospel and spread the word about Discovery Christian Church. - Visitations/Check Ups
Once an interest has been peaked or a relationship has been established, check ups are necessary to continue Godly service. Many times people are extremely lonely and just want someone to talk to. By visiting and checking up on them you are showing Christ’s compassion and love. - Service Projects
Service Projects can be any service or work done for someone else. The following are typical service opportunities encountered in C.I.A (the recipient of the service typicallypays for the materials).- Moving Heavy Objects
- Moving Help
- Mowing Lawns
- Sweeping, Raking, etc.
- Trimming Trees
- Laying Concrete
- Carpet Installation
- Gutting Houses for fire damage
- Habitat for Humanity
- Larger Projects usually require advance coordination of supplies and manpower.
