In Matthew 7:9-11, Jesus asks, "Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!"
So I'm showing up this Sunday with the anticipation that my Heavenly Father has "good gifts" for me... and for YOU. I recognize that our backgrounds are varied, and our current circumstances make Father's Day a different day for each of us. Some of us are celebrating, some floundering, some questioning, some grieving as we think about earthly fathers. But my prayer for YOU is that you will be drawn to your Heavenly Father who IS present in your life. He IS engaged in your life. He IS wise enough to guide you, generous enough to provide for you, and He offers to walk with you every step of your life.
This Father's Day Sunday we will continue in our summer series HERO: When God Crowns A King and take a look at David the Dad in 2 Samuel 13. It's not a pretty picture, but through it all, fathers learn some vital lessons, and we are all pointed to the amazing grace and provision of our Heavenly Father.
I am planning and praying for us to seek and receive from our Heavenly Father this Sunday.
See YOU then!
