John Richert
Lead Pastor

John was born and raised in upstate New York. He graduated from Long Island University with a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology and a future teammate in ministry – his wife Garricyn. John and Garricyn moved to Davis in 2000 to pursue his Ph.D. in Marine Ecology at UC Davis. Throughout his time in graduate school, John served at Discovery and developed Discovery's student and young adult communities. Following completion of his Ph.D., he followed God's calling into full-time ministry and now serves as our Lead Pastor. He is currently an M.Div. student of Western Seminary-Sacramento.  He and Garricyn are blessed to be the parents of a seven-year old daughter named Kendall, a three-year old son Maddox, and two-year old twin girls, Shayne and Larkin.

Brandee Robbins
Church Community Coordinator

Brandee and her husband, Mike, were both born in the Chico area of northern California. After meeting each other at the start of high school, they dated for five years and got married in July of 2006. Mike graduated from UC Davis in 2011 and is now a UCD medical student. Brandee is obtaining a masters degree in Specialized Ministry - Pastoral Care to Women at Western Seminary in Sacramento. They love outdoor activities such as riding bikes, running through the arboretum and eating Yoloberry in the park. Both Mike and Brandee have a heart for walking alongside college students and helping them discover the fullness of life in Christ.

Thom MacMillan
Worship Leader

Thom grew up in the never-ending suburbs of Sacramento.  As a high school student, he surrendered his life to Jesus, developed a love for rock music, learned how to play guitar, and combined his passion for music and faith by leading musical worship for his church's high school and junior high youth groups.  He also added a silent "h" to his name hoping to distinguish himself as a bona fide individual.  Yes, "Thom" is short for "Thomas."  In June 2012 he will graduate from UC Davis with an B.A. in History and Classics.  During his sojourn in Davis he feels blessed to be a part of Discovery Christian Church and Campus for Christ at UCD, where he has grown immensely alongside other men and women in his love for the Gospel and the redemptive work of Christ in this world.  He plans to pursue full-time ministry after college.

Stacy Shelton
Ministry Assistant: First Connections, Kids & Outreach

Stacy was born and raised in Paradise California. She met her husband Tim at their church's high school camping trip. Their paths continued to cross until they began dating in college, and after 2 years were married in June of 2008. Tim completed his undergrad at Chico state with a bachelors in Chemistry and is currently attending UCD for his doctorate. Stacy also graduated from Chico State in 2008 with a bachelors in Exercise Physiology. They enjoy exploring God's creation while hiking, camping, or back-packing. They also enjoy cooking together, drinking coffee, and competitive board gaming! At their previous church, Stacy enjoyed serving in the college and worship ministries and they both served on the junior high staff. They have a heart for serving the Lord in whatever capacity He leads them and are excited to be used for His glory at Discovery and throughout Davis.
