Welcome to Discovery Online

Regardless of who you are or where you've been, you matter to God! God has a purpose for your life and He's just waiting for you to discover it. And we want to invite you to come just as you are and discover a great way to connect with other people and with God. In person or on this web site, you can easily discover what we believe and how we choose to live our lives!

Our Passion

At Discovery Christian Church, we believe that finding God is life's greatest discovery. And we strive to not only lead people to discover Jesus Christ, but also to experience the life, love, and hope that He wants for us. We do this by Reaching Out, Reaching Deep, and Reaching Across. This Week at Discovery: A Note From Pastor John

October 29, 2008

Pastor John Richert

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you were an "outsider"?  Lately, I've been finding myself at several gatherings where I've felt that way.  A couple weekends ago, I was at a party hosted by a Mexican family - I only knew one couple, everyone else seemed to know each other, and most of the conversations were in Spanish.  I speak some Spanish, but I definitely felt awkward and out of place.  It made me feel like I didn't belong.

It made me think of how some people may feel when they visit church.  I'm a pastor; Discovery is my home and family.  But I have been in situations where I felt like I didn't belong.  People who visit us each Sunday come from all different backgrounds, struggles, perspectives and church histories. That's why we work hard to keep the environment of Discovery Christian Church a welcoming place where you can feel comfortable to check things out, ask questions, and find out more about who God is and who you are to Him.  To be sure, while you are at Discovery you will hear the truth of God's Word and be challenged you to live life God's way, but Jesus invited people to come to him just as they are - so should his church.

I love when people visit Discovery.  You are giving us the opportunity to share the love and message of Jesus with you, and to help you grow in the life God has for you.  So I view every Sunday morning as an opportunity - and I look forward to having the opportunity to welcome and share Christ's love with YOU soon!
