Men's Ministry
"The glory of God is man fully alive"

- Saint Irenaeus

Christ displayed perfect love in his time on earth; perfect love for His father, perfect love for his friends, and perfect love for his enemies. Although we may not be able to achieve Christ's level of desire for each and every person, we can dedicate our lives to trying.

But all too often, our understanding of living a Christ-like life is driven by long-standing perceptions of what men should be instead of becoming who we really are. In his book, Wild at Heart, John Eldridge defines Christian men as follows:

"When all is said and done, I think most men in the church believe that God put them on the earth to be a good boy. The problem with men, we are told, is that they don't know how to keep their promises, be spiritual leaders, talk to their wives, or raise their children. But, if they will try real hard they can reach the lofty summit of becoming... a nice guy. That's what we hold up as models of Christian maturity: Really Nice Guys."
The Purpose of Men's Ministry at Discovery
Strong men lead to a strong church. Therefore, we are dedicated to bringing men together in order to transcend the 'Nice Guy' label by becoming fully alive in Christ through spiritual growth, fellowship, and service. We believe that each man possesses unique gifts and talents that, when fully unleashed, will have a dramatic impact on the family, the church, and the world.

Through our Men's Ministry, we hope to give men the tools and encouragement necessary to live Christ-like lives in their families, at work, within the church, and in the community. We base our ministry activities on the following activities:

  • Men's Studies - regularly scheduled meetings to study topical issues or Bible subjects
  • Discipleship Triads - small group studies focusing on the discipleship of Christ
  • Spontaneous Gatherings - Opportunities for men to gather in fellowship.
  • Service in the Church - Encouraging men to be active and involved in the church through service in church ministries
  • Service in our City - Encouraging men to serve the community
